FEEDBACK
Week 2
Specific feedback: For my slides, in the description I should include more context and history. When observing the logo, I should look from the designer's perspective and also expand on my explanation. I also shouldn't limit myself because of the slides.
Week 3
Specific feedback: For my description for each brand, I can have a deeper analysis. I should also look into the details of each brand such as the meaning behind the name or why did the brand rebrand.
Week 4
Specific feedback; I was told that I should include my opinions on the logo rather than just research alone.
Week 5
Specific feedback; I was told that my analysis was good and also it was good that I look into digital brands.
Week 6
No feedback was given
REFLECTION
ExperienceFor this project, I experienced analysing 20 logos every week. It was definitely quite a chore to do at first as we had to analyse them quite thoroughly but as time went on I understood the purpose of the project which was to understand how a brand is structured and the logo embodies the brand well. At first, I did have some troubles with my analysis with not knowing how to analyse and also not being thorough enough but through the feedback I received, I found myself improving.
Observation
I observe that a lot of thought process is done through designing a logo, to ensure that the logo reflects the brand well. I also observe that the Malaysian cafe logo's that I have analysed did not have a strong background whereby I could hardly find any information on their brand which made it hard to analyse the logo. Many local brands are creating their own brand without any context or substance like the cafe's nowadays that are constantly popping up. However, I did found out interesting facts about different brand logos and also how their brand story, vision and mission that is reflected on the logo.
Findings
I found that there is more to a logo than just aesthetics though it is an important fact. A logo should reflect the brand's values, mission, vision and story. Throughout the weeks of analysing the logos, at first I did find it quite hard to juggle this with the other projects at hand as it was time consuming as we had to analyse the logo throughly and also it's brand story. However I know that it is for our own good as it helped me to understand the elements that build up a brand logo and what makes a logo strong.
