LECTURE NOTES

21/09/18 (Week 4)

This week, we were given a lecture on film production as we're going to recreate a small part of a short film in coming week. There are three stages of film production - Pre-production, Production, Post-production.

Pre-production: Preparations that are made for the shoot.
Production: Raw elements for finished film are recorded.
Post-production: Film is edited.

21/09/18 (Week 4)

This week, Mr Martin showed us the short film we were going to recreate and then briefed us about our shooting practise. We were split into 3 groups, and I teamed up with Chee Kent, Jessy, Jessica, Sam, Brian, Xiao Shi, Allen, Thooba and Shan May. We had to assign roles for the crew. The roles included the producer, director, assistant director, art director, assistant art director, director of photography, two assistant cameras and the two main characters which are Lalin and Nut.

2 Shooting locations

After receiving information on which scene to shoot, we proceeded to make preparations. We prepared the props like the face mask, file and artwork. The art director (make up artist) tested out the make up beforehand too.

26/09/18 (Week 5)

Today was the shooting day, here are some behind the scenes pictures and also some process pictures.

After the filming process, Mr Martin told us to use the footage we have and edit a draft of the video before the next class. Here are some process pictures of editing the video.

Shooting Practice & Editing #2

05/10/18 (Week 6)

Our second shooting practice, is about recreating an advertisement This time, it's done in smaller groups. I teamed up with Avy, Isaac, Johan, Stephanie, Linda, Jun Won and Kitty for this shooting practice. As usual, we had to assign roles such as actors, director, assistant director, director of photography and art director.

The short film that we got to watch in class had several different parts, each with a different theme. And each group was required to recreate each theme, it was selected through lottery.

The is an advertisement promoting a bar of soap, but filmed in different themes.
