28/08/18 (Week 1)

In the first class, we got a lecture on what design research is all about. From the lecture, I understood that research is done to pursue more knowledge and is an investigation and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.

We presented our topic of interest and also our research problem in front of the class and the lecturers. I wanted to research on how design can have positive effects on the social issues of the country but I have received feedback from both the lecturers.

FEEDBACK: I should not include the advertising companies as they do contribute to a certain amount due to certain rights and advertising is what they do. The lecturers suggested to change it to maybe how design becomes a voice for people.


11/09/18 (Week 3)

Today was a public holiday and we were to send our slides in for feedback. I decided to change my research topic to the return of hand lettering in the advertising and branding industry as they strive for authenticity.Here are the google slides.

But after thinking about how it would turn out as I dissertation and also after researching on what I can write I found that there wasn't much so I decided to change the topic again. My new research topic is illustration in branding and content marketing.

FEEDBACK : Today we had a one to one consultation. I received feedback that I needed to tweak my problem statement and also rephrase some sentences and make them straight to the point. I also need to change the structure of my sentence for research problem and research topic. She also told me that I don't need to include hypothesis as I did not make an assumption. As for my rational, I should add some references as this could be used in my portfolio for masters and it should have some weight to show that I did my research.
